Why Amad Diallo left only Sunderland posts on his Instagram before deleting account

Amad Diallo has explained his recent social media activity that has left both Manchester United and Sunderland fans confused.

Amad Diallo hasn’t been afraid to show his love for Sunderland on social media since returning to Old Trafford after a hugely successful loan spell last season.

The Ivorian previously claimed that he wouldn’t join any club in the Championship other than the Black Cats, while he has repeatedly shared photos of his time on Wearside this season.

There were previously reports that Amad had asked to be sent back out on loan to Sunderland, while Fabrizio Romano insisted that he was happy to stay with the Premier League giants.

However, the 21-year-old has now managed only 27 minutes of action since the January transfer window slammed shut and his latest social media activity suggested he wasn’t very happy with his role.

Amad had previously shared photos of his time with United on his Instagram, however it was noticed by fans yesterday that he had since removed all traces of the Red Devils an instead only had the posts he had shared during his time with Sunderland. As well as that, he had written ‘this will end’ in his bio.

While many had thought he was doing it out of frustration due to his lack of game time, Amad has since deactivated his account and, as per Romano, has said: “I’ve deactivated my social media for a month just to focus on Ramadan. Stop the hatred, there’s nothing wrong with what I did.

“It’s holy month for me and social media is a place where there are bad things to see during fasting.”

Are we to believe Amad Diallo?

Amad Diallo’s decision to deactivate his account due to Ramadan would certainly make sense, however that doesn’t explain why he initially removed all photos of Manchester United from his Instagram.

The Ivory Coast international seems to have sent so many messages making it clear that he wanted to leave the Red Devils, only to be told off by the club and immediately having to claim we are all reading too much into it.

It seems very obvious to me and many Sunderland fans now that he was desperate to return to Wearside until the end of the season, but it appeared that Erik ten Hag’s stubbornness proved to be the difference.

The Dutchman had Amad convinced that he was going to play more of a role with the senior team once he returned from injury, but Ten Hag clearly doesn’t favour him.

It’s hard to say what the midfielder could have done to this name while we are clearly really struggling, but one thing you can guarantee is that he would have been better than the rest of them.
