Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is set to take action following the controversy that surrounded Sunderland’s FA Cup clash with Newcastle United.

Sunderland faced Newcastle United for the first time in almost eight years earlier this month, as they were thrashed 3-0 at the Stadium of Light.

However, the spotlight had been taken off the football in the week leading up to the third round tie.

Fans were already left frustrated when it was confirmed that Sunderland supporters in the North Stand would be forced to move for the visiting crowd, while Newcastle would also be given the Black Cats Bar too.

Photos then surfaced of Sunderland memorabilia being removed from the bar and being replaced by Newcastle signage and decorations over the top of it.

The Black Cats were left angered and took to social media to share their thoughts on the club’s decision, which soon resulted in all the decorations being taken down and Sunderland sharing a club statement in apology.

While the club confirmed that there would be an investigation into how this had been allowed to happen, there has been no further word on it and no mentioning of any sackings.

However, supporter group, The Red & White Army, criticised the lack of dialogue and have now issued confirmation that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus will be in attendance at a supporter collective meeting on Thursday.

On social media, they wrote: “RAWA has received confirmation that the supporter collective meeting will be on 18th January and that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus will be attending. Thanks to everyone who attended our membership meeting last night. Lots of very well put points that we will be raising at the meeting.”

What can we expect from KLD?

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus will rightfully be questioned over the horrid decisions made in the lead-up to the Newcastle defeat, which led to many fans criticising his ownership and his position on Wearside.

The 26-year-old businessman had suggested that he had no idea about the incident until it appeared on social media, however there has been no mention on who it was that is instead at fault.

Hopefully we gain some needed answers at the meeting, while no doubt there will be questions asked of Michael Beale‘s arrival too.

The former Rangers coach has very few fans in Sunderland after only six games in charge, in which he has won two, drawn one and last a further two.

The potential presence of Kristjaan Speakman may also give us some insight into transfer dealings too, with the club extremely quiet halfway through the January window.
