Sunderland striker Eliezer Mayenda has been praised for his performance in the defeat to Plymouth Argyle.
The 18-year-old came off the bench in the 2-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon and impressed in his second appearance for the club.
Morgan Whittaker gave the hosts the lead with a wonderful striker from outside the box leaving Anthony Patterson no chance.
Finn Azaz then doubled their lead just before half time, with Steven Schumacher’s side seeing it out for their first win in four games.
The result means Sunderland drop out of the play-off places down to ninth position in the Championship, two points off the play-off places.
18-year-old a ‘livewire’ in defeat

Journalist James Hunter for the Newcastle Chronicle praised Mayenda for his performance in the second half.
“For Rusyn 46mins. A livewire in the second half and went close on a couple of occasions”
Mayenda starting to impress
Mayenda has been very unlucky since his arrival at the Stadium of Light.
The 18-year-old is highly rated and is a Spain under-17 international.
He joined on a five-year-deal in the summer, on a wage of £5.3k-a-week, so Sunderland will be hoping to unearth a future star like they have been doing with many other young talents.
Mayenda joined the Black Cats at the end of July from French side Sochaux, but failed to make his competitive debut for the club until just before the November international break due to a recurring hamstring problem.
He picked up the injury in one of his first training sessions after joining, but it looks like he is starting to make a come back.
He will be wanting to make a statement over in England with Sunderland following his summer move.
