Black Cats supporters have watched many excellent players over the years, and many have made squad numbers their own.

Kevin Phillips is synonymous with the number 10, while Niall Quinn will always be remembered with a nine on his back.

1 – Anthony Patterson

Previously worn by: Craig Gordon, Jimmy Montgomery, Chris Turner, Thomas Sorensen.

Anthony Patterson is now firmly Sunderland’s number-one keeper and has held the shirt since the 2022/23 season.

Unfortunately for Niall Huggins, injuries have prevented him from showing off the number two jersey much in recent seasons.
