Sunderland fans have been informed as to whether they could see Romaine Mundle in action against Middlesbrough this weekend.
After confirming the arrival of Leo Hjelde earlier this week, Sunderland doubled their January transfers after welcoming Romaine Mundle to the club this morning.
Mundle spent much of his childhood rising through the youth ranks with Tottenham Hotspur, before rejecting a new deal with the club and joining Belgian side Standard Liege last summer.
The 20-year-old has struggled for minutes in the Belgian Pro League and has now returned to England with Sunderland, arriving on a four-and-a-half year deal for a reported fee of £2 million.
Mundle arrives on Wearside with plenty of time to spare on deadline day, while his transfer comes three days before the all-important trip to Middlesbrough on Sunday.
Sunderland Echo journalist Phil Smith has now given supporters the good news that he will certainly be available for that clash.

Writing on X, he said: “Romaine Mundle signs for #SAFC – four-and-a-half year contract. Will be in the squad on Sunday – subject to international clearance. Speakman says they didn’t think he’d be available this month but moved quickly once he was.”
Will Romaine Mundle start for Sunderland?
Romaine Mundle arrives at the Stadium of Light with a lot of excitement surrounding him.
The fact that Tottenham were eager to tie the winger down to a long-term contract surely shows how highly rated he is and how much Sunderland have got to look forward to in terms of his development.
It is definitely a boost that he is available for Middlesbrough too, though it seems highly likely that if we are to see him, it will be from the bench.
Mundle could well challenge for a regular place in the starting line-up for the rest of the season, but Abdoullah Ba’s exceptional display against Stoke City is definitely deserving of a start at the Riverside Stadium.
The Frenchman will be determined to keep up the quality performances too, now that he has even more competition for his place on the right.
