Sunderland are the Championship leaders in one key statistic despite their 0-0 draw with Preston North End on Wednesday night.
Regis Le Bris has continued his impressive start at the Stadium of Light as the Black Cats extended their unbeaten run to seven matches.
However, in their last two games, the Championship table-toppers were unable to pick up a victory, seeing out 0-0 draws at both QPR and Preston.
The display at Deepdale was less than impressive, with Simon Moore ‘saving’ Sunderland from a potential defeat.
Yet, by avoiding a loss, Sunderland now sit top of the Championship in one key statistic.
Sunderland hold the best away record in the Championship

Despite a potential argument being made that Sunderland has dropped four points over the past week, they have remained at the top of the division.
Much of this is down to the fact the club are simply hard to beat with only Watford and Plymouth getting the better of Le Bris’ men so far this campaign.
While their unbeaten run at the Stadium of Light continues, after just two wins in their last five away games, some have questioned their form away from Wearside.
However, despite this, Sunderland actually holds the away best record in the Championship. The club is averaging 1.75 points a game with a record of four wins, two draws and two losses.
Sunderland have also managed to find the net 11 times while only conceding seven on their travels.

Consistency is now key for Sunderland

As the final international break of 2024 approaches, Sunderland cannot rest on their laurels.
Le Bris has to ensure that the club keep to the standards set so far this campaign if they want to maintain their promotion push.
The Black Cats have a tough set of games after the break which is quickly followed by the busy festive period.
A victory against managerless Coventry on the weekend would do Sunderland the world of good as they seek to go into the break on a high note.
