Sunderland fans have been left amazed by what Jenson Seelt has done in training this week.
Jenson Seelt has already really impressed since joining Sunderland from PSV in the summer, despite only making seven starts in the Championship.
The Dutchman had to wait over a month to make his debut, before injuries and suspensions allowed him to force his way into the team. However, he has only made two starts in his natural position and has instead often been pushed out to the right.
Seelt has been heavily praised since joining the Black Cats and was previously hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Trai Hume, however the importance of Luke O’Nien and Dan Ballard in defence has made it hard for him to earn a regular place in the starting line-up.
Ballard’s suspension offers him the chance to start in his natural position against Swansea City this weekend and he will be desperate to make his mark in Mike Dodds’ first game in charge following Michael Beale’s sacking.
The 20-year-old has already caught the eye in training this week though, but not for what he has done defensively.
In a video posted on Sunderland AFC YouTube channel, Seelt can be seen playing a min-match with the rest of the squad.
Towards the end of the video, goalkeeper Nathan Bishop plays a ball along the ground to Seelt, who is facing away from the goal. Then, all in one touch, the defender flicks the ball up and back heels it into the bottom corner of the net.
The brilliant goal is then followed by a cheer of ‘Jenson!’ and applause from the coaches.
It wasn’t long before the video clip made its way onto social media, with Sunderland Echo journalist tweeting it with the caption: ‘SEEEEELLLLTTTT’.
It was also shared by a Sunderland fan (@shanehagan24) who wrote: “Get Jenson up top”. Both videos were flooded with responses.
Here are some of the replies from excited Sunderland fans…
