Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham has been handed a high ranking amongst England’s best talents.
The Black Cats have several top talents in and around their squad this season, with the midfield and attacking certainly taking the reigns for becoming Sunderland’s main focal point for quality.
Sunderland’s midfield in particular has been displaying brilliance regularly, with Dan Neil notably putting in a fine shift recently in the 2-0 win against Luton Town, whilst Chris Rigg has continued to defy expectations, despite being just 17-years-old. However, the quality of the Black Cats pair does seem to get eclipsed by Jobe Bellingham, who has been scouted by Premier League sides this season.
The 19-year-old Black Cats midfielder has been integral to the success of Regis Le Bris’ squad so far in the successful 2024/25 Championship campaign, and this has been recognised in a recent report consisting of potential England talents waiting in the wings for an England call-up, which he has ranked extremely high in.

Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham named as England U25 deserving of national team debut
In a recent report by Football Observatory, the top 10 English under-25 talents yet to receive a national team call-up have been ranked, which has been ranked on the footballers’ playing time over the last year, the sporting level of the matches played, and the players’ performances.
Sunderland’s Bellingham, according to this report, has been regarded as one of the top prospects in the country, ranking 10th in the list of uncapped talents.
He has been ranked behind two fellow Championship prospects, Jayden Bogle and Sam McCallum of Leeds United and Sheffield United respectively, whilst other names in the list include Elliot Anderson, Jamie Gittens, and Archie Gray.
Bellingham has already shone on several occasions for England U21.

Jobe Bellingham is a Premier League campaign away from an England call-up
Whilst it is a bitter pill to swallow for Sunderland fans, it is clear that Bellingham’s qualities make him stand out at Championship level, with his deserved introduction to Premier League football likely to come imminently, with Kristjaan Speakman already sounding out replacements for the midfielder.
This gives Sunderland plenty more motivation to achieve promotion this season, which could see Bellingham prolong his stay on Wearside.
It is clear that, whether he makes the Premier League with Sunderland or moves on following the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign, a spell in the top flight is one of the few things preventing him from an England call-up.
Sunderland’s gem midfielder has proven to be head-and-shoulders above many in the Championship, and compared to those other talents in the report, it seems that experience in the Premier League could see him shoot up Thomas Tuchel’s list of likely call-ups.
