Nazariy Rusyn has finally arrived in Sunderland.

The Black Cats published photos and videos of the Ukrainian striker at the Penshaw Monument, before posting him holding up the iconic red and white scarf outside the Academy of Light.

Rusyn had been heavily linked with a move to Wearside all summer and at points it looked like a transfer saga that would never be completed, however the club eventually agreed a deal for the forward on transfer deadline day.

Rusyn netted 13 goals and provided five assists for Zorya Luhansk last season and fans are hopeful that he can add more of an attacking threat that the club have missed at times this season.

However, the 24-year-old may be seen as more of a winger than a striker at Sunderland, which means he will have to complete with the likes of Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts for his place in the team.

Will Nazariy Rusyn be fit to face QPR?

Though the club’s first concern will be his fitness, with Rusyn having missed Zorya Luhansk’s last three matches with a groin problem.

However, Rusyn arrived on Wearside this week and is expected to go straight into training with the rest of the first team. According to sport.ua, ” “Rusyn arrived at the location of his new club, Sunderland, with whom he signed a four-year contract. Rusyn is no longer bothered by groin pain and can train in the general group.”

This gives the attacker a few days of training before Sunderland take on QPR at the weekend. Rusyn was unlikely to start against the London outfit anyway, but we could see him make his debut off the bench in the Championship clash.
