Sunderland are in fine form once more, and Regis Le Bris is rightly getting his flowers. Now, the Black Cats boss has a request for the club’s board to help him achieve further success.
Regis Le Bris took over at Sunderland in the summer as a well-respected but fairly untested coach making his first venture into English football.
Suffice to say, there were some who doubted the Frenchman, but with Sunderland still soaring in the Championship after the win over Swansea City on Saturday, Le Bris has certainly proven everyone wrong.
Le Bris has admitted he is learning more and more about his Sunderland side each week, but it has now been revealed he needs one more thing to get the best out of his team.

Regis Le Bris needs another coach at Sunderland
As per an update from Alan Nixon’s Patreon, Le Bris is hopeful he can get a new addition to the Sunderland coaching staff to support him.
Nixon wrote: “Regis Le Bris is looking for another sidekick to boost his management team. Le Bris was allowed to bring in Pedro Ribeiro after joining the Black Cats but now he wants an extra body.”
It is not known whether the Sunderland board will approve the request, and if they do, there is no telling who will come in or when.
It is very likely Le Bris has some ideas in mind for who he would want to join him at the Stadium of Light, though.
Perhaps he will look to previous collaborators, or the Sunderland manager could even turn to the club’s past and find an iconic Mackem star to help him better understand the ethos and history of the Wearside outfit.

Sunderland should embrace Le Bris identity for the long-term
Just one week ago, Sunderland were one of the worst teams in the Championship when it came to securing points from a deficit.
However, the win over Stoke City, the draw against Bristol City in midweek, and the stunning victory over Swansea have proven that Sunderland are developing a resilience they didn’t have before.
Whatever Le Bris is doing, it’s clearly working, and the club should absolutely double down by investing in a new coach who can support him in developing this young, exciting team.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 21 | 14 | 5 | 2 | 30 | 11 | 19 | 45 | |
| 2 | 21 | 12 | 6 | 3 | 37 | 15 | 22 | 42 | |
| 3 | 21 | 11 | 7 | 3 | 32 | 17 | 15 | 40 | |
| 4 | 20 | 10 | 8 | 2 | 24 | 7 | 17 | 38 | |
| 5 | 20 | 11 | 4 | 5 | 25 | 17 | 8 | 37 | |
| 6 | 21 | 10 | 4 | 7 | 35 | 25 | 10 | 34 |
There is still a long way to go this season, but regardless of whether Le Bris gets Sunderland promoted from the Championship, he has done an incredible job there and the Black Cats are making rapid improvements under his stewardship.
The Sunderland owners would be foolish not to back Le Bris with anything he needs, be it new coaches or new players in the January transfer window.
