Patrick Roberts has identified exactly what Sunderland need to do against Norwich City this weekend.

Speaking on the club’s YouTube channel, the winger claimed that Sunderland need to match the Canaries ‘aggression’ if they are to pick up a much-needed three points.

Despite previously finding themselves third in the Championship table, the Black Cats have endured a sticky patch after suffering three defeats in a row.

The Wearside outfit put on an impressive display against Leicester City last night, however they were unable to unlock the Foxes’ exceptional backline.

Sunderland will now host Norwich at the weekend in what is a must-win game if they want to avoid any panic at the club.

David Wagner’s side currently sit 14th in the Championship and are without a win since last month, though they are only two points behind Sunderland.

Patrick Roberts is prepared to fight for the vital victory this weekend and reckons he knows how the Black Cats can do it.

“[They’re] definitely another team we need to obviously put a marker down against them,” Roberts told the club after the Leicester game.

“They will come and they will try to be aggressive and we have to be equal at it. The manager will get us ready for that and we can take some positives from today and put them into training and into the game on Saturday. And then we just have to do that and make sure we get three points.”

Patrick Roberts can be the key to Sunderland’s return to form

Sunderland really need to beat Norwich this weekend and after an impressive performance at the King Power Stadium, they really don’t have much excuse.

Though aggression is not something the Black Cats have coped very well with in the past, with the likes of Niall Huggins and Trai Hume not exactly the strongest of the bunch.

However, another top display from Patrick Roberts could certainly unlock Norwich at the other end of the pitch. The winger was superb against Leicester and just needs to keep pushing and he will eventually get off the mark.

It’s a must win this weekend. If not, then we can start to worry.
