Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he has been watching Sunderland on TV this season.
Bruno Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2020, for an initial £47 million fee plus £21m in add-ons.
The midfielder has scored 72 goals and provided 72 assists since, has won the Carabao Cup, has been named in the PFA Team of the Year, as well as the Premier League Player of the Month on four occasions and has also won the Nations League with Portugal – playing alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva.
Fernandes is one of the biggest names in Premier League football and nobody would blame him for not even knowing where Sunderland is, but it appears he knows a lot more than just their geographical location.
The 29-year-old has now admitted that he has been watching the Black Cats on TV this season.
When asked about the Red Devils’ upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City, Fernandes told MUTV: “”It is a tough game.
“I see some some of their games because my chef at home is a Sunderland fan, so I get to see some Championship games sometimes with him at home.
“So for some spells they have good players on the ball. They are really difficult to play against physically. We saw it against Wolves.”

If Fernandes has watched Coventry when they have played against Sunderland then he probably doesn’t think very highly of us.
The Black Cats’ last meeting with Mark Robins’ side at the Stadium of Light ended 3-0 to the visitors, while they haven’t managed a win against the Sky Blues since 2007. Though if the midfielder only started watching us this season then perhaps we can blame him for our downfall.
World Cup to Wearside – Bruno Fernandes knows the score
While we all know Fernandes isn’t a Sunderland fan, there’s something very heartwarming about the possibility of him going into training and talking to Amad Diallo about his time on Wearside.
Maybe he asks Amad what it was like to play with the hugely talented Jack Clarke, or whether he thinks Patrick Roberts would be a better option than Antony – joking, of course.
The Ivorian has already revealed his intentions to send Ellis Simms a message ahead of his reunion with the Coventry striker – which is another tough pill to swallow for a team who now have absolutely zero goal threat.
