The managerial merry-go-round never stops, and next up, we could see a Sunderland edition in the Premier League.
Sunderland endured what became a very torrid managerial search during the summer, and one which angered a lot of fans.
In February, Sunderland sacked Michael Beale, taking until June to appoint Regis Le Bris. That move has proved to be a masterstroke, though, and so all seems to have been forgiven at the Stadium of Light.
As Black Cats fans know, Le Bris wasn’t the only one wanted by the Sunderland owners. Will Still was Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’ no.1 though he opted against the move, as did no.2 choice Liam Rosenior who’s now managing in Ligue 1 with Still.
Another name who was quite heavily linked at one point was Steve Cooper. It was claimed that Cooper appreciated the Sunderland project and the Black Cats hierarchy appreciated Cooper’s work.
However, Cooper wanted a Premier League job and so he passed on interest from Sunderland and a number of other Championship clubs.

Steve Cooper facing Leicester City axe, his replacement is a familiar name
After just 14 games in charge of the Foxes, and despite having the club in 15th place of the Premier League table and three points above the drop zone, Cooper could be sacked.
Leicester City fans are largely against Cooper and a recent report from talkSPORT says that Cooper is under pressure at the King Power.
The same report also states that former Sunderland manager David Moyes is a potential contender to replace Cooper at Leicester City, also being a contender for Wolves, Crystal Palace, and Southampton with all four teams struggling this season.
Moyes managed Sunderland between 2016 and 2017, overseeing 43 games and winning just eight as the Black Cats were relegated from the Premier League under his watch.

Former Sunderland boss David Moyes’ stance on a return to management
Moyes left West Ham in May this year, following a successful five-year stint in charge of the Hammers.
Now 61, Moyes has revealed that he’s already had approaches from clubs and from national teams too.
He told talkSPORT on a possible return to the dugout: “I don’t know yet, I don’t know.
“I’ve not made that decision yet and I don’t want to make that decision. I just want to see how it goes.
“I’ve had some really nice enquiries from clubs and countries as well at different times, but I’m just taking my time and we’ll see how it goes.”
The dark days of Moyes at the Stadium of Light still hurt many Sunderland fans. But Le Bris is patching the wounds of old as he has the Black Cats sitting in 1st place of the Championship table after 15 games.
Promotion this season is certainly looking very achievable, but it’s a long road ahead.
