Bailey Wright has admitted that he ‘can’t stand’ Newcastle United.
In a video posted on Twitter by his club Lion City Sailors, the former Sunderland defender was asked which football team he can’t stand the most and he went onto respond with the Magpies.
Wright joined Sunderland on loan in 2020 before making his stay permanent six months later. The centre-back quickly became a fan favourite as he made over 100 appearances for the club and played a huge part in winning promotion back to the Championship.

However, Wright fell down the pecking order under Tony Mowbray and was sent out on loan to Rotherham United last season before linking up with Singapore Premier League side Lion City Sailors.
The 31-year-old has made an immediate impact at his new club, scoring twice in their opening four matches of the season.
Wright since took part in a series of quick-fire questions on The Sailors’ Twitter page where he addressed his feelings towards Newcastle, as well as declaring his admiration for Ronaldo and his love for Ange Postecoglou.
Bailey Wright and Danny Batth were at the heart of Sunderland’s promotion
Bailey Wright and Danny Batth formed a solid partnership as Sunderland beat Wycombe Wanderers in the play-offs 15 months ago.
The duo started in the backline as the Black Cats won 2-0 at Wembley Stadium and were expected to play their part in the Championship.

While Batth won the club’s Player of the Year award last time out, Sunderland could be without both players come the end of the summer. In fact, they face losing three of their four defenders that started the play-off final.
While Wright’s exit and the potential departure of Lynden Gooch may not be too heartbreaking, there has been plenty of criticism towards the club for looking to offload Batth.
Sunderland are losing experience and leadership in the dressing room and that appears to have had a negative impact in their opening three games of the new campaign.
