Amad Diallo was one of the first to take to social media following Tony Mowbray’s sacking at Sunderland.
The Ivorian commented on Sunderland’s Twitter and Instagram posts, before posting his own Instagram story with a 12-word message.
Amad Diallo joined the Black Cats only a day after Tony Mowbray arrived on Wearside, though the 60-year-old only handed him one start in his first eight games.
The pair quickly became fond of each other though, with Amad going onto become one of the first names on the team-sheet as he netted 14 goals in 39 appearances in the Championship.
Mowbray has previously labelled him an ‘amazing talent’ and ‘unbelievable’, while it was expected that the manager would push to bring him back in January.
However, Mowbray has been sent packing less than a month before the transfer window opened, and Amad has taken to social media to show his appreciation for his former gaffer.
Reacting to the news on his Instagram story, Amad wrote: “Thanks for having [helping] me a lot in my learning, good luck boss”.
The midfielder had also responded to Sunderland’s twitter post with a broken heart emoji.
Could Amad Diallo still rejoin Sunderland?
Amad Diallo had suggested he would be happy to return to Sunderland on loan and it wouldn’t have surprised anyone if we had tried to bring him back next month.
However, the 21-year-old’s relationship with Tony Mowbray could well have been the deciding factor in whether he was to come back to the Stadium of Light.

Amad will have plenty of options of where he could go on January, with Wolves one club that are said to be interested in recent weeks. So is he going to be less bothered about choosing Sunderland if his favourite manager isn’t here anymore?
I really hope that’s not the case, though it could still depend on who we bring into replace him. Surely if it is an exciting, young manager then Amad will still see the benefits of joining us for a second time.
Only time will tell, though Amad’s future is probably far from Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Kristjaan Speakman’s minds right now.
