Sunderland were dealt a defeat at home to Swansea City on Saturday, and fans have had plenty to say about Tommy Watson.
Sunderland lost 1-0 against Swansea City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday in a game that matters little, after Regis Le Bris’ side secured Championship play-offs last week anyway.
After their 0-0 draw against Norwich City at Carrow Road Sunderland booked their spot in the play-offs. But Le Bris will want to see good performance in the build up nonetheless.
He didn’t see that on Saturday however, and one player who stood out for criticism online was Tommy Watson.

Sunderland fans say Tommy Watson to Brighton for £10m is a ‘brilliant piece of business’
Watson has started twice since the news of his £10million summer move to Brighton was confirmed earlier in the month. But Sunderland fans can’t understand why, and his performances since have been subpar.
“If the £10million plus for Tommy Watson is true we got best of the deal,” one Sunderland fan started. “Hasn’t hardly touched ball but when he has he gives it away no way he succeed in a footballing team like Brighton.”
Similar comments read: “£10million for Tommy Watson we are laughing Brighton must be sick,” and also: “£10million for Watson is a good piece of business.”
One fan added: “Tommy Watson doesn’t want to know. Anything defensive he doesn’t give a hoot just wants to try and show off for his new club get him off and on the bench permanently.”
Meanwhile, other Sunderland fans posted: “Getting £10million for Tommy Watson is an absolute brilliant piece of business,” with this supporter adding: “I’d send Watson to Brighton at half time. Never seen someone look so uninterested since his injury.”

Tommy Watson’s stats for Sunderland against Swansea City
Whilst many fans might wonder why Le Bris is playing Watson right now, it’s easy to forget that he has shown glimpses of brilliance this season. Brighton don’t just sign any player.
But it’s also frustrating for Sunderland fans to watch him play when they believe he might not care as much about the games as other Sunderland players as he won’t be here next season.
That might be far-fetched to think, though it’s clear that he’s not been playing all that well in recent weeks, with his stats against Swansea City showing that…
