Sunderland returned to winning ways on Tuesday night as they beat Derby County 2-0 at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats’ hunt for Premier League football took another positive turn as Jobe Bellingham and Wilson Isidor both scored in a professional victory.
Regis Le Bris’ side needed a good performance after their late 2-1 defeat to Watford on the weekend.
Thankfully for the Stadium of Light faithful, they regained their form and moved to the top of the table.
Now, journalist Michael Graham has highlighted one star in the Sunderland squad who has stepped up this campaign.
Romaine Mundle’s assist ensures ‘no dip in quality’ for Sunderland

One of the biggest concerns for Sunderland fans this season was how the team would cope without their starman, Jack Clarke.
Clarke finally left Sunderland in the summer, joining recently promoted Ipswich. The attacker had netted 15 goals and picked up four assists last campaign.
However, one man who has stepped up this current season is Romain Mundle. The winger assisted Isidor’s goal which eventually put the game to bed.
In the aftermath of the goal, Graham took to X, formerly Twitter, stating that Mundle’s creative play ensures there is no drop in quality since Clarke’s departure.
Romaine Mundle is showing Premier League potential
While many of the Sunderland players have stepped up this season and quickly put their early 2024 behind them, not many have done better than Mundle.
The winger’s form has been revolutionary so far under Le Bris and he has single-handedly won the club multiple points already.
At only 21 years old, Mundle is showing early signs that he can play in the Premier League.
Hopefully, if he can continue his form for the rest of the season, both Mundle and the Sunderland squad will be competing in the top division in the next campaign.
