‘Half asleep’… Sunderland fans all say the same thing about 20-year-old after QPR

Sunderland fans have vented their frustration at one player following the 0-0 draw vs QPR in the Championship.

Sunderland hosted QPR at the Stadium of Light in the Championship on Saturday afternoon, ending a run of six-straight defeats after a 0-0 draw.

Though that was one of the only positives to take from the game today; QPR may feel they should’ve taken all three points as it was them who had the better chances throughout the day.

Sunderland once again created very little and once again, Mike Dodds‘ decision to start Luis Hemir as the lone striker has come under the spotlight, along with the striker himself.

Luis Hemir’s season so far at Sunderland

Hemir, 20, joined from Benfica last summer and has now featured 19 times in the Championship without scoring for the Black Cats.

Mike Dodds has been showing increasing faith in Hemir in recent weeks, starting him as the lone striker in three out of the last four outings now.

But the game vs QPR was another where Hemir failed to show why he’s so highly-rated, it seems, among those behind the scenes at Sunderland.

What fans said about Hemir’s performance vs QPR

There’s a common theme emerging where Hemir is concerned; he’s not fit enough to be a lone striker in the Championship.

Hemir’s fitness was questioned earlier in the year and he showed again vs QPR that he’s not yet at the fitness level to lead the line, and to be running in behind for a full 90 minutes.

Whilst he may be a player with decent technical abilities, he’s yet to adjust to the physicality of the Championship.
