Sunderland are away at Carrow Road on Tuesday night for a Championship clash against top six hopefuls Norwich City.
Sunderland can all but guarantee their spot in the Championship play-offs with a win at Norwich City on Tuesday night, in what is their 41st league game of the 2024/25 season.
After Sunderland beat West Brom 1-0 over the weekend, the Black Cats retain a 15 point cushion within the top six and with only 18 more points left to play for, a win at Carrow Road puts the Black Cats one point away from guaranteed play-offs.
Regis Le Bris won’t be counting on anything just yet, though. Norwich City will prove tricky customers and they have play-off ambitions of their own too, though three defeats in five has seen the Canaries drop down to 11th place of the Championship table.
They now have an eight point gap between themselves and 6th. But Sunderland will want to take as much momentum into the play-offs as possible and so a win here is so vital for so many different reasons. Enzo Le Fee’s return from injury is also a huge boost for Sunderland.

Sam Parkin gives Norwich City vs Sunderland score prediction
Speaking on Championship Check In ahead of the midweek round of fixtures in the second tier, Sam Parkin gave his verdict on the upcoming game at Carrow Road, predicting a four-goal thriller between the two teams, but not picking a winner.
Parkin said: “Full credit to Sunderland. Keep on churning out the performances and results. I think it could be good fun, because I don’t think Norwich are going to make it [into the play-offs], I think that’s pretty much across the board, the feeling now. I’ll go for 2-2.”
Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side have score an incredible 62 goals in the Championship so far this season; a number only bettered by Leeds United. They’ve also conceded the most of any team in the top half and so goals could be expected on Tuesday night.

Norwich City vs Sunderland H2H
At the Stadium of Light back in December, Sunderland beat Norwich City 2-1 owing to goals from Dan Ballard and Jobe Bellingham. In fact, the Black Cats have won three of five games against Norwich City since earning promotion back to the Championship in 2022.
The last time they played at Carrow Road however, Norwich City won 1-0. Sunderland’s last win away at Norwich came in March 2023 with the Black Cats having won three of their last four games at Carrow Road.
But the two teams haven’t played out a 2-2 draw since 1998. What’s more is that only one of their last 10 meetings has ended in a draw with five wins for Sunderland and four for Norwich City.
Kick off on Tuesday night is at 7:45pm.
